If you do not have a blog, or somewhere public on the internet where you post book reviews, please write your mini-review/thoughts in the comments section.  If you like, you can include the name of your blog and/or the title of the book in your link, like this: "Karen K. @ Books and Chocolate (Murder on the Orient Express)."

  1. I read And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Does this count?

    1. As long as it was published by 1965, and there's a detective in the story, it counts!

    1. Yes! And I highly recommend the original 1974 movie version of the book -- so much better than the BBC adaptation of a few years ago.

  3. I read the Leavenworth Case by Anna Katharine Green after Wikipedia told me it was an "influential novel." Very disappointed, but at least I can take bitter comfort in warning others against the same fate.

  4. I read Patricia Wentworth as my detective novel because I had never heard of her. This book was entertaining to read. At first I thought it was simple and dated but I eventually got drawn into its convoluted relationships. It made me want to read at least one more in the series to get to know Maud Silver better. I can't imagine reading all 32 but will certainly pick up any I see while I am working at the library book sale this weekend because a Wentworth mystery is the perfect read for the BART train into San Francisco.

  13. I intended to read The Thin Man by Hammett for this category. I tried to read it I should say. Oh my the writing was terrible. I don't think I have time to finish every category so I dropped this one so I can read something well written instead. :(
